Project Technician - Pipefitter

The Quality Air project group is looking for pipefitter for commercial and industrial projects. Candidates must be journeymen and must pass a background check.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all project activities on assigned project
  • Provide advice on management of project
  • Make sure all safety and quality standards, goals, budget, and deadlines are met
  • Develop and maintain overall project construction schedule including pre-job planning, scheduling, document management and other tasks as assigned
  • Identify and offer solutions to problems
  • Understanding the project plans and specifications
  • Monitoring sub-contractors to ensure guidelines are maintained
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees
  • Understanding of MIOSHA/OSHA safety rules and regulations

Job Requirements/Qualifications/Skills

  • Highly self-motivated and positive attitude
  • Boiler room, refrigeration pipe fitting skills
  • Insulation skills preferred
  • Proper brazing practices skills
  • Reading and understanding blueprints
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading, cut and thread pipe to specifications, assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications 
  • Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment
  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods
  • Plan pipe system layout, including selection of pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, hydraulic cylinders, related equipment, installation, or repair according to specifications
  • Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools
  • Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches
  • Remove and replace worn components
  • Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness
  • Dismantles defective pumps, valves, and reassembles using new, rebuilt or repaired parts
  • Welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints experience
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction process from start to finish
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read and interpret detailed construction plans, and specifications
  • Quick, effective problem-solving ability
  • You must have management, leadership, organizational, analytical, well developed interpersonal, communication, and team working skills, and the ability to motivate people
  • Must be able to properly maintain service reports and time cards
  • Understands days and nights are part of the job
  • Preferred 4+ years of experience as a foreman
